The US president has vetoed legislation passed by congress that would have banned the CIA from using waterboarding and other interrogation techniques.
In case you don’t know what waterboarding is, it sounds like a sport but it isn’t:
The simulated drowning technique has been condemned by many members of congress, human rights groups and other countries as a form of illegal torture. (article)
As the article mentions, the CIA has admitted to waterboarding three suspected terrorists (although the CIA has been accused of more waterboarding incidents). Bush has given his stamp of approval to torture.
